The elections for all the seven members of the Federal Council of Switzerland will be held on December 14, 2011. The Federal Election was held on October 23, 2011.

• Micheline Calmy-Rey announced that she will not seek a re-election to the council. Traditional informal convention suggests that her replacement should come from the French-speaking or Italian-speaking part of Switzerland.
